HYGROSCOPIC POWDER



The powders which absorb moisture from the atmosphere are called hygroscopic powders. But certain powders absorb moisture to such a great extent that they go into solution and are called deliquescent powders. Examples of such substances include ammonium citrate, pepsin, phenobarbitone, sodium bromide, sodium iodide, potassium citrate, zinc chloride etc. Such substances are usually supplied in granular from to expose less surface area to the atmosphere.

These powders should not be finely powdered. Such powders should be double wrapped. In humid weather or when dealing with very deliquescent substances, for there wrapping in aluminium foil or plastic cover is advisable.

Project Statement



The output of ANFD has to be finally filled in 500Kg FIBC bags . The process requirement is to eithir fill the jumbo bag or charge again into another ANFD to reduce the mositure content. The ANFD capacity is 4KL and cycle time 2hrs-3hrs. The ANFD is on the 2nd floor. The dust generated during charging and filling were connected to client's dust collection system.

Project Detail



The Powder from ANFD (Client's Scope) have been conveyed for the jumbo bag filing for reactor charging. Two different packing is considered from the ANFD outlet, one for the jumbo bag and another to the different ANFD. The powder flow path will be defined by diverter valve according to selection of filling station.

The filling has been done by the help of Flow Control Valve which operates in coarse and fine mode. This will help to achieve the accuracy of ± 100gm and stop in auto mode once target weight is achieved . mechanism of vibration has been provided to ease out the heap formation during filling. 2nd operation from ANFD 2 to filling station 2, first have to select filling station 2 and press system start button.

Entire system operation is control by the PLC and HMI along with all instrument interlocks Like (sensors, proxy SW, SOV, transducer) based on Automatic operation, only one operator will be handling entire process and operation activity.
